Clark County Appraiser’s Office to Begin Real Estate Appraisals April 28 – ClarkCountyToday.com
In preparation for estimating the estimated value of real estate in the county in 2020, appraisers will perform physical inspections of new residential and commercial construction.
VANCOUVER – Every year in Clark County, thousands of new homes are built, renovated or added. The Clark County Assessor is responsible for listing and appraising these new homes, renovations and additions as well as new commercial buildings.
In preparation for estimating the estimated value of the county’s real estate in 2020, appraisers will perform physical inspections of new residential and commercial construction beginning Tuesday, April 28 and will continue through Monday, August 31.
What does this mean for owners? You may see appraisers in branded county vehicles examining your property or your neighbor’s property for any updates if it is considered new construction. They can even take a photo of the property in order to update county records. Assessors will walk around the construction area to determine the quality of the improvements and physically measure the buildings.
What to do when I see them? Nothing unless requested. The reviewer may have questions about the changes if you are available, or they may leave a door hanger on your doorknob if they want you to contact them. For the safety of county residents and staff, assessors will observe recommended COVID-19 mitigation measures such as:
- Keep a distance of six feet between people
- Evaluators may wear a face cover
In addition, the evaluators:
- Wear an orange construction vest to be easily seen
- Display identification with county photo on a lanyard
What if I rented / rented? The property has yet to be assessed. If you are asked about updates, you can choose to answer the questions or refer the reviewer to the owner.
